WI0651 Elizabeth BULLED was Born on 17 Jan 1813, Witheridge, Devon, England and was Baptized on 21 Jan 1813, at Witheridge. Elizabeth married William BLAKE, son of Amos BLAKE and Sarah. (William BLAKE was born in 1812 in Brushford, Somerset, England, was baptized on 19 Jul 1812 in Brushford, Somerset, England and died on 28 Apr 1891 at age 78 in Morebath, Devon, England
WI0652 Elizabeth BULLED with her husband, William Blake (from Brushford, Somerset) and my grandmother’s sister, Michael Adams Blake, born in Lynton. Millie, as she was more commonly known, came to the United States in 1883 with her mother, Elizabeth Hill Blake, her brother, William Reuben Blake, and my grandmother, Sara Madeline Lynton Blake. The children’s father, William Bulled Blake, came to the United States in 1881. This photo was taken during Millie’s visit back to England in 1891. During her visit, both of her grandparents died in Morebath.
WI0653 The premises of Mr Joseph Churchill, saddle maker, were, until the mid-1870s, the Bell Inn of which Mr Churchill was the Landlord. One resident whose father was at a concert on in the Drill Hall, now the Church Room, recalls the day the line of thatched cottages and the thatched "Bell Inn" along the north side of the Square burnt down, It was on February 27th 1886, and his father "went round with the bell rousing the village."

WI0690 The earliest photograph in our collection dating from before 1886. The Thatched Houses on the far side were burned down in February 1886, and were occupied from left to right by Mr J Churchill, Saddler, Mr J Dinner, Wheelwright, Mr W Way Carpenter, and Mr H Trawin a Wool Merchant.
