The Hare and Hounds, run I believe by a 'Digger' Ford.
Mr Jack Stone

A much more comfortable pub was the Hare and Hounds, and it was a very sad day when this closed down and became a private home. One of the last landlords was Jack Stone, a former police sergeant. Another landlord of the Hare and Hounds was William Reed who was the landlord for 31 years from about 1906 to 1936. He then retired to farm at Buddleswick for a further 38 years until his death at the age of 95. Mrs W Churchill, whose family name was Reed was born in the Hare and Hounds (Proprietor William Reed) and recalled in conversation with John Usmar that in the old days each of the pubs brewed their own beer. She also recalled how Mrs Reed was very proud of the limeash floor in the Hare and Hounds, and scalded milk was used daily to make it shine.
